COURSES IN LITERATURE
Some English courses may be repeated for credit when the content of the
second differs from the first. To repeat a course for credit, the student must
have consent from the instructor in order to ensure that the course content is
different. For a repetition to apply toward an English major or minor, the
student must have written consent from the chair of the English Department. This
consent must be secured before enrolling for the course.
ENG-010 Film Festival
An activity course in which students see a group of related films. S/U only; may
not count toward an English major or minor; may be repeated for credit but with
a maximum of only one course credit applying toward graduation. (0.2 course
credit)
ENG-025 English Tutorial
Study of an individually chosen topic in literature or writing under the
direction of a faculty member in English. May not be counted toward an English
major or minor; may be repeated for up to a maximum of one course credit; 0.25,
0.5, or 1 course credit, as determined by the English Department. Approval of
directing faculty member and Department chair is required.

ENG-115 Western Masterworks
Study of works of major authors of Western Civilization from ancient times to
the present.
ENG-125 Topics in Literature
Exploration of a selection of literary texts with the purposes of stimulating
the appreciation of literary art and considering the various functions of
literature in the contemporary world.
ENG-145 Literature in Translation
Study in English translation of literature originally written in one or more
other languages. See French Literature in Translation (FRE-145) and Spanish
Literature in Translation (SPA-145).
ENG-155 Irish Literature
Study of selected literary works written by Irish writers. Typical topics may be
the Irish Renaissance, Contemporary Irish Playwrights, or Irish Poetry.
